Same material different edition

I have the 4th edition and I actually compared it to the 5th edition. My findings after comparing the table of contents then actually going to the university bookstore, I found the 5th edition has less pages due to the authors combining a few of the chapters. All of the chapters of 4th edition are pretty much the same, just moved up, down or combined, to make the 5th edition. Saved myself a lot of money. Purchase the 5th edition if you don't feel like comparing the two books or that's just your choice. I listed the comparison below for your follow-up review, I hope it helps.

I really liked the book

This was the textbook for my MKTG 1960 class. I really liked the book. Each chapter featured real life case studies, and sections called Working it Out, with scenarios for me as a student to put into action the principles taught in the chapter.

A must read for dental professionals to update vital info!

Every working and instructing dental professional should readthis text concerning medically compromised patients. It updates, aswell as reviews, the important topics that are seen every day in private practice. Especially important is the areas of TB, HIV, and diabetes, although recent information may need to be added by the practioner (check out internet sites for these). Introductory tables are a must for reference in a clinical situation. I have used it a reference text in my clinical practice and in my continuing education courses.

Most used textbook during my residencies!

This was an invaluable book that I only glanced at a few times during dental school, but during both my hospital based-general practice residency and pediatric residency was my constant guide. It provides both medical and dental management for most encountered problems that patients present with and has lots of great quick reference tables!

Not for everyone, not anymore!

A little bit out-of-date in the way body systems are reviewed in the Center (body) part of the book. Principally, the single section that I found valuable throughout my Dental school was the summary review of systems that is offered at the front of the book, which worked as a fast reference (basically, I tore that section off from the rest of the book!). Nevertheless, it might still work in a better way when it comes to being used by some residents in certain fields like that of surgery, GPR, AEGD, and so forth where they need to go over the boring center (body) of the book.

The Unsurpassed graphic novel of a near future America

"Give Me Liberty" tells the story of young Martha Washington, a precocious african-american girl growing up inside of the horror of public housing - "The Green" (a hideous development of the "Carbrini Green" projects of Chicago). At the dawn of a new century, a fascist president helms an America that features everything evil we can expect of the "New World Order" - including domination by corporations and an insurmountable gap between rich and poor. Abolishing term-limits (with each succesiive inauguaration, the crowds of supproters seems to be inversely proportional to the armed guards) the President spends most of his time reminding us how happy we should be thanks to him. At first trapped in Cabrini, Martha's savage misfortunes provide her an odd escape - first institutionalization, then (because it will clean her record) enlistment with PAX, a sort of corporate backed citizen's army. As a soldier on every one of America's frontlines, Martha witnesses how America's new empire is born, even as its dying. The enemies of course are not the Russians, but competing corporations (mostly theme parks and fast-food companies). In case you haven't caught on, "Give Me Liberty" is all about an advanced American state slowly disintegrating under its own weight. The country is soon gripped in civil wars - rather than a single conflict, the fighting is disorganized, along state, muncipal and corporate lines, and further complicated by various non-aligned factions, like the amazon women of the "First Sex Confederacy" and tribes of Native Americans armed with their own missiles. Even the left-wing administration that (briefly) suceeds Rexall is overwhelmed by the evil that is the new century.
While the story of America is compelling, "Give Me Liberty" actually suceeds because it never abandons Martha. Rather than some empty-headed figure upon whom "Give Me" can stamp its story, Martha is strong-willed, convincingly intelligent and surprisingly sympathetic. We never pity Martha nor can we condemn her for the ends she must take (which are violent - there's a fair amount of gore in the story). The future landscape of America is compelling, yet the story appears heavy-handed in some spots (the orbiting laser cannons are overtly phallic; the fst-food wars are fought by robots styled after the avatars of many Fat-Boy restaurants; genetic engineering creates an army of hyper-intelligent mutants used as living computers - like the "Pre-Cogs" of "Minority Report"; other clones include an army of beautiful but super-strong blondes who manage to escape the billionaire who bred them; then there's a mysterious surgeon general who seems patterned on Darth Vader - always masked, speaking in short sentences and never leaving any doubt of his homicidal mania). Still, the story can rely on our being continually focused on Martha. In that respect, "Give Me Liberty" does not dissappoint.

Blunt but Effective

If there's one thing noone will ever accuse Frank Miller of it's subtlety. While the satire has all of the nuanced grace of a sledge hammer to the face this is still a surprisingly powerful and always entertaining piece. It manages to balance the over the top aspects with genuine emotion thanks to an amazingly strong central character with Martha Washington. This blew my mind when I read it in my early teens, and while I recognize now it's not a very sophisticated piece it still stands strong.

This book is a Science fiction graphic novel by Frank Miller (batman:DK; sin city) with art by Dave Gibbons (watchmen).It takes place in the future. Martha is the main character. GIVE ME LIBERTY is the first graphic novel in a trilogy which can now be found at barnes and noble in one large volume. This series is for those that enjoy a good action packed political satire.

About the Author
Julie Maroh is an author and illustrator originally from northern France. She studied comic art at the Institute Saint-Luc in Brussels and lithography and engraving at the Royal Academy of Arts in Brussels, where she still lives. After self-publishing three comics collections, her French-language graphic novel Le bleu est une couleur chaude was published by Glénat in 2010; it won several awards, including the Audience Prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, Europe’s largest.

Beautiful

I have never been so in love yet so heartbroken by the same story. It really is a poetic story about a girl accepting herself. And the hopes of an eternal love. Perfection. Really I recommend it to anyone, lesbian or not. It helps you realize love is not something defined by gender, but by what is in your heart.

An extraordinary love story so realistic that it hurts.

Now that Julie Maron's BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR is coming to theatres in a feature film that not only won the very prestigious Palme D'or at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and that it was smacked by the MPAA with the dreaded NC-17 rating for its explicit sexual content, and that there is an ongoing war of words between the film's two leads and its director, it should generate enough publicity for not only people to see the film, but to also hopefully discover this remarkable graphic novel.

Simply enough, the novel, written and drawn by Maron, is about a fifteen-year-old girl Clementine who is doing her best to be a "normal" young girl. She dates a senior at her high school, she studies for her exams, and she has the "right" friends. Until one moment of one day, as she's walking down the street, she passes a beautiful older girl with dyed blue hair, and she cannot get this girl out of her mind. The blue-haired beauty invades her dreams with shocking sensual and sexual imagery, and Clementine can't understand what these feelings mean. She just CAN'T be gay. She refuses it, and in that refusal, her passion for this mystery girl grows. As she sneaks out one night to be with her best friend, Valentin, who is a young gay man, they go to a gay bar, and Clementine meets the mystery girl. Her name is Emma. And from then on, Clementine, no matter how hard she tries, she can no longer deny the feelings of love and lust she has for Emma. But once they finally realize who they are to each other, all the other parts of Clem's life start to spiral out of control. Her parents refuse to accept their daughter's deviant lifestyle, as do her straight friends. Soon, all she really has is Emma, and for a even a short time, that's more than she ever thought possible. But time catches up to all, and it catches up to Clem in a tragic way that is certain to leave everyone in tears.

Maron gives Clementine such a realistic voice that any adolescent or someone who survived adolescence and the awakening of desire for love and sexuality can immediately relate. You feel your heart lift when hers does, and even more so, you feel your heart break when hers does. The art and particularly her use of color is excellent. The writing is so strong that you really feel that you're with these characters, and even though you may find some of them despicable, you understand them. Maron never makes the mistake of painting stereotypes of any of the characters, so that even when they do or say something terrible, you understand where they're coming from.

And this is the only other graphic novel, aside from Art Spiegelman's MAUS, that has ever made me cry.

Again, though, we must go to the place that I hate to go to, which is the argument of Art Versus Pornography. This book, which I'm sure is probably banned in more than a few libraries, has a sequence of graphic sex between Clementine and Emma. This will be objectionable to many parents of adolescents who may receive comfort from the emotional realism of the book, but it is NOT pornography. Pornography is meant for the sole purpose of sexual stimulation, and is not intended to show realistic portrayals of sex. And believe me when I state that there is nothing resembling that in the least in this book. Is it erotic? Yes. Is it art? Yes. Is it pornography? Absolutely not.

BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR is an extraordinary graphic achievement, and it's something that I would recommend to anyone with a love for great storytelling and an open mind.

Fantastic Graphic Novel

My only complaint is that it's too short, but only because I burned through those pages incredibly quickly.
The artwork is so well done, and the simple techniques Julie Maroh uses to carry the emotion and the unfold of the story keeps you glued to the pages. The romance between the two main characters is so palpable. Recommended for anyone seeking an LGBTQ read, or an amazing story about the ups and downs of coming of age love and passion.

He has verbalized that he thoroughly enjoyed all of the titles in the series so I will pretty much copy/paste this review on all of the titles. He fully recommends all the ones written by the actual author. He does not feel the same about the ones apparently written by the heirs of his publishing projects, but all books we will be commenting on, he enjoyed and thinks any fan of western literature would enjoy them as well.

One of Johnstones best

This is the book that started the Jaime Ian Mac series and the best one. One of my favorite books of all time. I've read all the books in this series but I've read the first 4 several times.

Outstanding Read

I enjoy reading very much and I'm always looking for new authors and different stories. I decided to look for a good western story and investigated which were the best western authors. William Johnstone came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. I'm so glad I selected the Eagle series to begin with. I had no idea this book would be linked to so much history (the Alamo) and historical characters I was familiar with (Crocket, Bowie, etc.) It just added to the enjoyment of reading this book. I found the adventures of Jamie MacAllister growing from a small boy to a family man engrossing and very entertaining. The story and action reminded me of the western movies and comic books I enjoyed as a boy years ago. I look forward to reading more about Jamie MacAllister as well as other William Johnstone books.
